Keeon Johnson (6'3/198) of A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, N.C. is quickly emerging as a big-time college prospect. The junior has already attracted interest from several schools.
"Recruiting is going good so far," said Johnson. "I am hearing from North Carolina, East Carolina, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Duke, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, and I have started to hear from Washington. Carolina and Duke are recruiting me the hardest."
The Wonders' star has already picked up four scholarship offers.
"I have offers from Carolina, N.C State, ECU, and Duke," he said.
Who will be the next to offer Johnson?
"I would have to say either Clemson, or Wake Forest will be next to offer me.
Although it is early, Johnson already has a favorite school.
"Carolina is my leader right now," he said.
He has been able to take several visits to different schools so far this season.
"I have been to N.C State a couple times and Carolina a couple times," he said. "I went to Clemson two weeks ago and to Wake Forest when they played Florida State."
Wherever Johnson goes to college, he wants to study medicine.
"I want to be an anesthesiologist, so the school will need to have the right classes for me to be able to achieve my goals," he said.
The Kannapolis junior has all the physical tools to become a star at the collegiate level. The Wonders' playmaker is a big, strong, and fast receiver. He is a polished route runner and very good after the catch. He can make the tough catch over the middle or stretch the field. Johnson has over 600 yards receiving on the season and 10 touchdowns. He bench presses 275, squats 385, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds. A.L Brown will take on Charlotte Catholic next Friday in the third round of the 3AA state playoffs.
