"It's going really good," freshman wide receiver Conner O'Donnell said prior to the finals. "We worked hard during the off-season and were well-prepared.
"We have a really good school. I love my teammates. We're an up-and-coming program that was 2-8 four years ago. The chemistry is great among our freshmen class. We have eight freshmen who are college prospects, including 6-1, 205-pound Riley Zayicek."
O'Donnell, 6-0 and 165 pounds, was second on the team in receiving behind a senior. He hauled in 38 receptions for 919 yards and five touchdowns.
In a playoff game vs. Fayetteville Christian two weeks ago, O'Donnell caught five passes for 143 yards and a touchdown.
"(Fayetteville) was playing off-man coverage and we scouted them well," said O'Donnell, son head coach Geoff O'Donnell. "We expected the underneath routes would work well."
Multiple SouthLake Christian 2016 prospects played on the Team USA 15-and-under squad, such as O'Donnell, CB Will Eason and RB Robert Washington (two SEC offers).
The future looks bright for SouthLake.
