Winston Salem, N.C. – Saturday's win against Concord marked back-to-back state championships for Havelock High School. Thanks to second half explosion led by junior running back Derrell Scott, the Rams went on to win 55-21.

At halftime of the 3A North Carolina state championship game, Havelock trailed Concord 21-20. It was an unfamiliar spot for the Rams and they responded in the half, scoring 35 unanswered points. "Our coach talked to us at halftime and asked if we wanted to be state champions or runners-up," said Derrell Scott.
