Cabrera has Two Offers

This fall, Jacksonville (N.C.) Northside wide receiver Joshua Cabrera moved to North Carolina from Georgia. The talented playmaker has two scholarship offers and is already generating a buzz on the recruiting trail.

Joshua Cabrera moved to North Carolina before the start of the 2012 football season. The 2014 wide receiver made an instant impact and helped Northside reach the 2AA state semifinals.

"We had a good season," said Cabrera. "We made it to the fourth round of the playoffs and lost to Carrboro by seven points."

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Cabrera already has two offers and several other schools are showing interest.

"Duke and Virginia Tech have offered me," he said. "I've also been talking to UNC and N.C. State. If I had to guess, I would say UNC would be the next to offer."

"I'm also getting letters from Florida State, Mississippi State, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, and South Carolina."

Cabrera has had a chance to visit some schools.

"I've been to South Carolina, Duke, and Georgia Tech," Cabrera said. "I'm visiting UNC this Saturday and Florida State also wants me to visit."

When he makes his decision, Cabrera will be looking for a few specific things.

"I'm going to be looking at education first," he said. "I've got to find a good major. I also want to go somewhere that I feel comfortable."

"As far as a football program, I'm looking for one that gets after it every day. I also want to be a part of program that feels like a family."

Although he is hearing from several schools, Cabrera said he does not have a leader.

"No schools are standing out," he said. "I like all of them and am still considering every school."

Last season, Cabrera had 600 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns.
